THE MEDAL - 2020

Architectural adjustments & Interior Design

The Medal is a small private boutique development in Krabi featuring 16 semi-detached houses and a common swimming pool.

Each standard house has two bedrooms on the upper floor, one of them ensuite, and two social bathrooms, one on the 1st floor and one on the ground floor. The ground floor is an open space plan with kitchen, dining and living room and a small back garden. There is also a garden area in the front of the house as well as covered parking. Each house is separated from the adjoining house by a high wall.

House 11 has beed customised with a changed layout to achieve added privacy and a calmer luxurious setting.

On the ground floor, the living room and kitchen were switched, so that the living room would now be in the back of the house, facing the more private garden, and the kitchen would be by the entrance of the house, which faces the front garden and the development’s private road.

In the new living room area, the back and side walls were opened and converted in large wall-sized fixed windows to take in all the views from the back garden and give the house an indoor-outdoor feel, further enhanced by folding glass doors in the wall that accesses the back garden.

In the raised deck area of the back garden, luxury details were brought in by a plunge pool fitted with massage jets. A larger indoor-outdoor lounge was created by reducing the bathroom area adjacent to the folding glass doors. A large panel door was also added to the wall under the stairs so that this outdoor-indoor area can be closed off, preserving the cooler temperature inside the house and avoiding mosquitoes from entering.

The kitchen is a floor-to-ceiling hidden kitchen with folding and recoiling central half-doors that hide or expose the working counter, sink and stove. All appliances are hidden. The kitchen/entrance area also features a kitchen island with two lower drawers facing the entrance for shoe storage and the upper drawers facing the kitchen for pantry storage.

The area under the stairs has been fitted with a washer-drier and added storage for luggage and other items.

The upper floor features 2 bedrooms with floor-to-ceiling wardrobes with folding doors and a lounge area between the two bedrooms that can also be closed off as an extra room through sliding panels.
